Google Ads management for Germany

Running Google Ads into Germany is not the same job as running them anywhere else. Different costs, different privacy rules, a different calendar and different checkout behaviour. Here is what actually changes.

What it costs

Benchmarks for Germany

Ranges rather than promises. Where you land inside them depends on your category, your creative and how competitive your auction is.

€1.00–€5.50Typical cost per click
€35–€130Typical cost per lead
€2,500Realistic monthly minimum

On that minimum. Below roughly €2,500 a month in media, testing spreads too thin across ad sets to produce readable answers. If your budget is under that, I will say so on the call rather than take the work.

What changes here

Six things specific to Germany

Privacy and consentYou are governed by GDPR, enforced by state-level data protection authorities that are among the most active in Europe. German regulators interpret consent strictly and have pursued cases over Google Fonts and analytics configuration. Consent Mode v2 and server-side tracking are effectively mandatory, and a cookie banner that nudges toward acceptance is a genuine legal risk here rather than a theoretical one.
The seasonal calendarBlack Friday has been fully adopted. Christmas markets drive a long November and December retail season. Summer holidays in July and August visibly suppress B2B demand for weeks.
Payment and checkoutInvoice purchase and direct debit remain unusually important, and PayPal dominates online. Card penetration is lower than most Western markets, so a checkout offering only cards loses real conversions.
Google Ads in this marketSearch is highly competitive and German keyword research needs doing natively — compound nouns mean literal translations from English miss how people actually search. Shopping performs strongly for well-structured feeds.
Currency and reportingEverything is reported in EUR so your numbers match your accounts. No conversion guesswork between what the platform says and what your bank shows.
Working across timezonesGermany is 3.5 hours behind India, so your working day is covered until early evening my time.
How it runs

The same four steps, adapted to Germany

STEP 01

Audit

Account, tracking and 90 days of spend reviewed against Germany benchmarks rather than generic ones.

STEP 02

Fix the foundation

Consent and tracking built to GDPR, enforced by state-level data protection authorities that are among the most active in Europe requirements, so the data going in is legal and complete.

STEP 03

Test and cut

Creative and offers tested against local seasonality, with losers stopped before they drain budget.

STEP 04

Scale what holds

Budget moved toward what stays profitable at higher spend, measured in EUR against your real margins.

Questions

Before you get in touch

Two separate numbers. Media spend goes straight to Google on your own billing account and never passes through me — in Germany that realistically starts around €2,500 a month. On top sits a flat monthly retainer for the work, based on account size. Never a percentage of your spend.

Around €2,500 a month in media for Germany. Below that, spend spreads too thin across ad sets for the data to become readable, and you end up paying a management fee for guesswork. If you are under it I will say so on the call rather than take the work.

Two to four weeks for the account to stabilise once tracking is fixed, then six to eight before scaling decisions are trustworthy. Cost per lead in Germany typically lands in the €35–€130 range, though where you sit inside that depends on your category and your creative.

You leave. Month to month with 30 days notice, ad accounts and data in your name, nothing to unwind. That is deliberate — I would rather you stayed because the numbers made sense than because a contract said you had to.

The person on the call is the person in your account. No handover to a junior after month one, no account manager relaying questions to someone you never speak to. The client list stays short so each account gets thought about rather than checked.

Most businesses need both channels

Meta creates demand, Google captures it. Running one without the other usually means paying twice for the same customer — once to introduce them, once to close them.
